Kim's bio:
Kim Shuck is a kindergarten teacher of 19 years. She is an incredible mother of 4 sweet children and a loving wife. On November 18, 2022 at 10:20 AM, Kim started feeling off. She started losing feeling in her left hand and left arm. She left her classroom under the care of her teammate and went to the nurse where she had a Grand Mal (tonic clonic) seizure that lasted about a minute. She was taken away by ambulance and learned that the seizure was due to a tumor on the right side of her brain. Kim had surgery on December 1st. The doctor was able to remove 99% of the tumor leaving behind a strand that could not be removed because it would have caused serious repercussions in the movement of her left side. The tumor was found to be cancerous and aggressive. The plan is to start radiation treatments every day for 6 weeks starting in January along with chemotherapy pills. Treatment is to last 6-12 months. Kim wants nothing more than to return to the classroom and to her "normal" extremely busy life as a mom of 4. Her hope is to teach while undergoing treatment. She is a strong, motivated, hard-working woman that plans to fight this and kick cancer's butt
Connie's bio:
Just like most people 2020 was a challenging year but my husband and I were doing best our to enjoy our first year of marriage and navigating life. In October of 2020 I discovered a lump in my breast & was referred to have a mammogram and ultrasound done. Next I was sent to have a biopsy completed and about a week later I received a phone call from my doctor confirming it was Cancer. I never in my wildest dreams would have thought that at the age of 34 I would be told that I have cancer, my life was about to change very quickly. After several appointments & scans we had a plan for treatment and I felt very confident with my doctors plan, knowing I was in good hands. After I completed several rounds of chemo, had surgery and radiation was done I had my first scan and all was clear, I had beat cancer! I felt so beyond grateful and blessed, and truly thankful for having the strength & support to conquer this battle.
I spent the next year enjoying life and trying to adjust back to what was “normal” before I was diagnosed. After my most recent scan this past November I received a phone call from my doctor and I could instantly hear the concern in his voice. He called to inform me that there was a visible spot on my spine that I needed to get checked further. My heart dropped, I couldn’t believe it, was this really happening again? I began the process again of several appointments with a plan of action. I was required to have radiation along with an intense medicine regiment. Each day I continue to make progress, not giving up this battle, taking it one day at a time, & not giving this fight. “Your hardest times often lead you to greatest moments in life, keep going!”
